Flatworm Reproductive System (Platyhelminthes)
➤ Flatworm Reproductive System (Platyhelminthes)
You may have heard that flatworms have hermaphroditic
properties. That means in one body there is a male and female sex.
Although like that, they cannot fertilize themselves. There are also flatworms that are able to produce new individuals without marriage. Fertilization in the worm itself occurs in the body of flatworms.
The reproductive system of flatworms (Platyhelminthes) is carried out sexually and asexually. Sexual reproduction occurs in the body of Platyhelminthes. Fertilization can be done alone or two individuals. Whereas asexual reproduction is done by means of faragmentation. After splitting, the parts of the body undergo regeneration and grow into new individuals.
