Life Cycle of Liver Worms (Fasciola hepatica) on the main host
Life
Cycle of Liver Worms (Fasciola hepatica) consists of
1)
Sexual phase: on the main host (when adult liver worms)
2)
Asexual phase: on the intermediate host (slug body)
On this
occasion we will discuss the life cycle of liver worms (Fasciola hepatica) in
the main host.
The Life
Cycle of Liver Worms (Fasciola hepatica) in the main host is as follows:
v The
liver worm (Fasciola hepatica) has a strange character but the larvae are still
able to make offspring by fragmentation while still larvae or often known as
Paedogenesis
v Paedogenesis
in the body of the snail (Lymnea truncatula) which is in the form of Sporosis
larvae - Redia and Cercaria
v Sequence
cycle (Fasciola hepatica) is : Eggs → Miracidium →
Sporosis → Redia - Cercaria →
Metacercaria
v Metacercaria
swims into plants around water → eaten
by main host (livestock) → enters
into adult worms → is
exposed to humans because humans eat cattle liver with adult worms that have
not yet died (because the liver is consumed is still immature)
