Planaria sp Nervous system
Planaria sp Nervous system
The nervous system consists
of a ganglion in the head. From each of these ganglions there is a beam of
nerves that extends posteriorly towards the edges of the body. Each nerve file
branched horizontally connecting the two lateral nerve files to form a nervous
system of rope ladders. This ganglion can be considered as the animal's brain.
The lateral nerve branches outward from the nerve cord to the muscles of the
body. These nerve branches are peripheral nerves. The two nerve straps meet at
the front and back ends. At the anterior end of the body there is a tool that
is sensitive to light stimuli, namely a pair of eye spots.
