Tubellaria Reproductive System
Tubellaria Reproductive System
Reproduction happens sexually and
asexually. Reproduction depends on the length of day and temperature. Sexual
reproduction occurs in short days and cold air. Asexual reproduction occurs in
long days and warm air. Sexual reproduction occurs through cross-breeding. In
cross-breeding, two Planaria attach themselves to the ventral part so that the
genitals (porus genitalis) face and intersect, then internal fertilization
occurs. This can happen if the sex cells are ripe. Planaria is hermaphrodite.
However, sperm cannot fertilize an egg from its own body, because the ripening
period of sperm and eggs is different. Asexual reproduction with regeneration,
which begins with a body that increases in length and the body part near the
pharynx gradually narrows and eventually breaks. The cut off part will complete
itself. Each will be a new and complete body. The ability to complete lost or
damaged parts of the body is called regeneration. Planaria is known to have
high regeneration power
